Now on to our trip....Nick told me a couple of weeks ago that he had planned a trip for my birthday and that we were going somewhere warm! He said that we were going to a state I've been to before but a place that I hadn't been to before. I had my guesses on where we were going but I didn't guess right lol. He told my mom where we were going and she even kept it a secret from me! I was really excited about this trip because Nick and I have never really traveled together before. I visited him in Colorado but he was working most of the time that I was there and we went on a trip with my family but he was golfing most of the time we were there (lol)! So I was especially excited for the 3 full days we'd have together.
Anyways, we left Thursday night right after work. We drove to the airport and I still didn't know where we were going. Of course once we checked in and checked my bag, I knew where our destination airport was. We were flying to Fort Lauderdale so I assumed we were going to Miami! Nope, we were headed to Hollywood, Florida! I was happy to be going somewhere warm and sunny and to have the time to relax. We got in late on Thursday night but we were staying at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino so there was still a lot to do when we got there! We checked in and then decided to check out the hotel before we called it a night. We ended up going to one of the bars in the casino and we found out the bartender had the same birthday as me! We ended our night with room service which was much needed!
On Friday we decided to go check out the beach. We went to Hollywood Beach which was just a short Uber ride away. We took the Uber to the Margaritaville hotel and it was a really cool spot! We walked down the boardwalk at the beach and decided to rent some chairs. Next thing you know, we were told we had to leave the beach because of Red Tide. Apparently it was airborne and causing people to cough and it wasn't good for us. So that was a bit disappointing but we didn't let it ruin our day! We ended up hanging at the hotel for a bit and had a few drinks & lunch. We went back to the hotel and hung out by the hotel pool which was a lot of fun. It was a great pool and it even had a slide! That night we ate dinner at a really nice restaurant. We shared french onion soup and I got a chicken dish. Nick tried Veal Parmesean for the first time and he wasn't too happy about it lol.
Saturday morning Nick woke up early and went downstairs and booked massages for us! It was a weird morning. Kind of sunny but would start pouring randomly! We took our time going out to the pool because of this. I think we spent 30 minutes out by the pool before it started raining again. Thankfully we didn't have too much longer to wait until our massages! We were both really happy with our massages - they were amazing and we felt refreshed afterwards! It was a really nice experience and I'm so glad we did that! After our massages we had lunch at the hotel bar. We split grilled cheese with tomato soup which was actually delicious. We spent the rest of the day hanging by the pool and then we had to get ready for dinner & the comedy show that night!
I mentioned that we were seeing a comedy show and I never really filled you guys in our thoughts about it! It was HILARIOUS. We were both laughing the entire time. I had never been to a comedy show before so I honestly didn't know what to expect, but I truly thought it was so funny. After the show I made sure to tell Nick that we HAD to stay up at lest until midnight for my birthday anddd we ended up drinking a bit too much and staying up pretty late! It was so much fun though and I don't regret a minute of it. Safe to say that the next morning we were both feeling a little rough haha. We survived though and it was an amazing trip & like I said in my Instagram Post yesterday, I'm so lucky to have Nick in my life! I've never had someone so thoughtful and caring and I've never felt so appreciated and loved by someone! And props to him for executing a surprise trip because I'm usually very hard to surprise :-).
