Turks & Caicos Travel Guide

Hi everyone!! Happy Friday!! I'm finally getting a post up all about my trip in Turks & Caicos! I'm going to share details on where we stayed, ate, and what we did each day & night! I have to say that this has been my FAVORITE place in the Caribbean that we've been so far (I've been to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, the Bahamas, and Barbados). Let me tell you why!

Where We Stayed

Turks and Caicos Travel Guide^^A few pictures of the Resort & the area!We stayed at the Ports of Call Resort in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. We were very happy with our stay there! We booked our trip through JetBlue Getaways and we got a great deal. The hotel is a small family owned resort and it is super affordable compared to all of the other resorts on the island. The staff was super friendly and helpful. When we arrived, the owner of the resort was there to greet us and that was a nice added touch. They had a bar that opened around 1 every day. They had a happy hour and the drink prices were reduced by $1 (which isn't that great of a deal, if you ask me). They also held events for the hotel guests (a trivia night to get to know the owners, etc.) They provided beach towels for you and they also have their own private section on the beach with beach chairs and umbrellas. There were also many different activities included that we could have done such as, kayaking, sailing, etc.

Here are some pros and cons of the resort:

Pros:

It is a family owned resort

It's a small resort - we liked this because it was easy to navigate

It was a close walk to the beach (less than 5 minutes)

It was a close walk to many shops and restaurants

They had a very friendly staff

The room we stayed in was very comfortable - we had two queen beds and there was a sitting area.

Close walk to the Graceway Market

Cons:

Breakfast was included but we were definitely not a fan of it (we opted to walk to the market most mornings and get something from there)

The room where breakfast was served often had a strong smell that wasn't pleasant.

There was no elevator (this could be tricky if you were staying on one of the upper floors) However, their staff would gladly bring your luggage up to your room for you!

Our TV in our hotel room didn't work - this was fine because we weren't in our room much anyway, but this may be an issue for someone else!

Overall, we would go back and stay at the Ports of Call Resort. We loved it and it was worth the price! I'd recommend staying here for sure if you're looking for a great deal and a great stay!

Where We Ate

Sooo I'm not that into food but my mom is. I didn't really care where we ate but she wanted to find a place that would have a healthy option for us. Like I said before, we'd often walk to the Graceway Market (across the street from the resort) to get certain items. However, one morning my mom got breakfast from there and she found an egg shell in her eggs (gross!) I'll go into a little more detail on where we ate and what I'd recommend.

Dinner:

Monday: For our first night on the island we decided to eat at Via Veneto. This was a delicious Italian restaurant that was a 1 minute walk from our resort. It's a great option because you can sit right outside OR you can sit inside. The service was great - our waitress was so friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, too! We were able to make a reservation for this restaurant online which was a nice touch.

Tuesday: For our second night we tried to find a certain restaurant but we ended up eating at the Solana restaurant at the Ocean Club West resort. The menu was pretty limited but keep in mind, I'm a very picky eater! I ordered a burger and it was really good! My mom got some sort of fish meal probably.

Wednesday: On Wednesday we walked about a mile down the road (it's very safe in Turks & Caicos, we didn't mind walking alone at night!) to a restaurant called Hemingways. We made a reservation for this place and it was well worth it. It was RIGHT on the water - it was dark by the time we got there but it was still SO nice. I recommend going to this restaurant around sunset because it would be absolutely beautiful! We really enjoyed Hemingway's.

Thursday: On Thursday we ate at a restaurant called The Deck. This restaurant is literally right on the beach. It's apart of the Seven Stars Resort. We LOVED this place and we were upset that we didn't find it until later on in our trip! On Thursday night it started POURING rain on us and the waiters were SO good about it. They brought us towels and umbrellas so our meals wouldn't be disturbed (see the picture of my mom above! Lol!) I do have to mention that we came to this restaurant for lunch two times during this trip. It's the perfect place because you're still on the beach but you're able to enjoy your lunch. We highly recommend The Deck!

Friday: On our last night we decided to go back to Via Veneto because we loved it so much! We wanted to stay somewhere close to our resort because we knew we had a long day of traveling the next day. We had such a great experience our first night and the second time we went didn't disappoint.

What We Did

This trip was meant to be a super relaxing vacation and it definitely was! Each morning my mom and I would wake up and we'd go for a 2-3 mile walk on the beach! This was so much fun and such a great way to start each day. We didn't want to not exercise while we were away, so this was a great alternative to us! Who doesn't love a walk on the beach??Turks and Caicos Travel GuideTurks and Caicos Travel GuideTurks and Caicos Travel GuideTurks and Caicos Travel GuideTurks and Caicos Travel GuideEach day we'd go to the beach and we'd pretty much stay there all day. That was our goal, anyway. I cannot even describe to you how beautiful the beach and the water were in Turks and Caicos. I have told everyone this - it's unlike any place I've ever been before (I've been to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, the Bahamas, Barbados). The water is a blue that is indescribable and for February, it was a great temperature!

Turks and Caicos Travel GuideTurks and Caicos Travel Guide^^Us at Jimmy's Dive Bar!

Every night we went out to dinner (places listed above) and afterwards when we weren't quite ready to call it a night, we'd venture over to Jimmy's Dive Bar. This became one of our favorite places on the island. They were so friendly and it was never too crowded (which we liked about it). We just went there and were able to talk to some locals and each other without it being a crazy scene. It was a fun place and you could tell that people who vacation there often came back all the time. We will definitely be back, that's for sure!
